Nokia One Business Server gives employees around the world secure and easy-to-use e-mail access
Düsseldorf, November 17, 2004 - The Nokia One Business Server enables Deutsche Post World Net to give selected employees secure wireless access to e-mail - no matter where they are in the world and which mobile device they are using. Employees have mobile access to e-mails, attachments, the Internet and other company information. With the Nokia One Business Server, Deutsche Post World Net has a mobile e-mail solution that allows users to choose their own mobile device and transmission mode, allowing the system to be optimally tailored to the needs of the company.
As a central, mobile messaging system, the Nokia One Business Server serves all areas of the business, functioning as an interface with over 400 decentralised mail servers. "Other solutions would have had problems with this extremely heterogeneous infrastructure. But the Nokia One Business Server is able to adapt flexibly to given conditions. The Nokia One Business Server supports CDMA, GSM, CSD/HCSD and GPRS technologies, ensuring virtually worldwide coverage. E-mails can be accessed using any mobile device with Internet browsing capability. This means that Deutsche Post World Net can continue using the mobile devices it has. The existing security structure can also be utilised: the Nokia One Business Server is set up in the company's DMZ (demilitarised zone) and is therefore protected by the corporate firewall.
The Nokia One Business Server is easy to use reducing the need and time for training. Usage is intuitive and straightforward: to access e-mails, users open the Internet browser on the device and enter a URL, which can be book marked After following password and authentication prompts, the user is logged into the system, The user interface automatically conforms to the available transmission rate and screen size, reformatting or dispensing with complex graphics if necessary. The user is able to read and answer e-mails and view any attachments, whilst the Nokia solution simultaneously synchronising the activities with the e-mail server in the corporate network.
