Nokia ranked as Sustainability Leader in Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes
September 07, 2004

Nokia maintained its leading position in two categories in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes. The report was published in the beginning of September 2004. Following last year's success, Nokia was again ranked number one in the World Communication Technology and European Technology sectors.

"Nokia is successfully integrating its sustainability strategy into corporate culture, and its performance is clearly positioned at the top of the industry. Corporate Sustainability is being embraced at every level of the organization, from strategic planning and its implementation to monitoring and reporting," the report stated.

Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index includes over 300 companies from 24 countries that lead their industries in terms of corporate sustainability.

Corporate sustainability is a business approach to create long-term shareholder value by embracing opportunities and managing risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.
