Nokia Game 2003 crosses virtual finish line
December 03, 2003

More than six million unique visitors to Nokia Game homepage

Nokia Game 2003 concluded on November 29th in an action-filled grand finale of good versus evil.  This year, a record number of gamers joined "Flo", the protagonist of Nokia Game 2003, in her attempt to overcome the "AnyOne Clan".  Players were encouraged to recruit a clan of their own to help Flo, an 18 year-old "mobile jockey," through 10 days of skill-testing challenges, role-playing games and arcade-style action.

The launch of Nokia Game earlier this autumn stimulated the imagination of gamers from all over the world. As a result, over one million players lined up for the 2003 edition of Nokia Game, some already months in advance just to make sure they wouldn't miss out. This year, the Nokia Game homepage had more than six million unique visitors since it opened.

Competitors received points for their speed and dexterity through time trials and problem solving, but were also rewarded by connecting with other players and employing a multi-player team strategy.  Winners in each country will receive an N-Gage game deck.

"Not only did Nokia Game 2003 attract a record number of gamers, but its compelling storyline and multiplayer functionality added exciting new features for gamers to enjoy," says Pekka Rantala, Vice President, Marketing Services, Nokia Mobile Phones. " We clearly made a connection with the growing number of gamers who want to be able to play not only against their friends and strangers, but also with them.  Congratulations to the winners, who overcame a number of challenges and intense competition to reach the finals."

Nokia Game 2003 is a 10-day, interactive online adventure that began on November 19 in 10 languages across 35 countries.  Competitors squared off in six separate games, being rewarded for speed, skill, dexterity and teamwork.  The finals lasted 24 hours, with the best gamers competing for the latest in mobile gaming, N-Gage game decks.
