Nokia selected by Ben to expand its GSM 1800 and GPRS network in the Netherlands
April 26, 2002

Ben Nederland B.V. and Nokia have signed a three-year frame agreement for the expansion of Ben's GSM 1800 and GPRS network in the Netherlands. The agreement will pave the way for further improved coverage and quality in Ben's advanced GSM network. With this deal, Nokia continues its role of sole supplier of 2G network infrastructure to Ben.

Under the agreement, Nokia will provide a full range of 2G core and radio-access network infrastructure, including GPRS network elements and operational support systems equipment. The deal will expand the GSM network Nokia has provided to Ben since1998. In addition to equipment, Nokia will provide consulting services for project management, and continue to provide the Nokia KeyCare(TM) Package to maintain the competitiveness of the network.

Deliveries have already started and will continue according to customer needs.

"Our good relationship with Nokia and its competitive products were instrumental in our choice of Nokia to expand our GSM network," says Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, Chief Operational Officer, Ben Nederland BV. "Kema, the Dutch quality research company, recently reported on the network quality of the five Dutch mobile operators. The research covered voice quality, failed calls and dropped calls. The study found that Ben's network has shown significant improvement, even sharing the number one spot in voice quality. We are proud of these results and worked hard -- with Nokia -- to achieve this goal. Ben is committed to expanding the quality of services to our customers, and this agreement is proof."

"We are very pleased to be expanding Ben's GSM network, as it reflects the good relationship between Ben and Nokia," says Jos Grond, Account Director at Nokia Networks. "Since 1998, we have been working together with Ben to achieve its business goals in this very competitive environment. Though Ben is the newest Dutch mobile operator, it has made great advances in network quality, as the Kema reports shows. Ben is clearly succeeding in making the mobile world a real experience for its customers."
