Nokia launches its Connecting@Care concept - including new Nokia Care Packages for operator services
February 02, 2000
Nokia today launched its Connecting@Care concept to provide operators with comprehensive service solutions for their networks. Connecting@Care reflects Nokia's commitment to supplying end-to-end solutions that raise the availability of operator systems, optimise network performance and help operators realise the full potential of their network investments.
The Connecting@Care concept combines Nokia's new Care Packages, process-based network and service management solutions, Care Management, systems integration know-how and Nokia Online Services, its online storefront. For operators and service providers, the result is seamless end-to-end service support.
As Pekka Oranen, Senior Vice President, Professional Services, Nokia Networks explains: "We have developed our Connecting@Care offering to help operators raise the quality, reliability and efficiency of their network operations, and in turn, their usage and revenues. Our new Care Packages, which take a plug-and-play approach to providing operator services, will allow operators and service providers to focus on their customers and the new impact services that are driving the transition to the Mobile Information Society."
The Nokia Care Packages, which are being launched in conjunction with Connecting@Care, provide a comprehensive range of operational services at four different service levels, from selected technical support to full operations outsourcing. Depending on their specific needs, customers can mix and match service options to reinforce their technical organisation, or complement the expertise of their own staff. Nokia Care Manager works closely with the customer to maintain and improve network performance and proactively plan for future needs.
Nokia's network and service management solutions are also an integral part of its Connecting@Care offering. Based on operator processes, these solutions go further and deeper to support smooth end-to-end connectivity and the new wave of IP-based technologies and end-user services. To provide a secure evolutionary path to 3rd generation networks, Nokia has developed and improved the structure of its management software even further. This modular system concentrates all related functions in separate software components and enables independent application development.
For applications from voice to mobile multimedia, Nokia Professional Services helps operators optimise their resource allocation and unlock their business potential. Nokia Professional Services covers the entire process of building and running a network; developing, managing and optimising network operations; integrating network systems and solutions; and creating and implementing end-user applications.
Nokia is paving the way to the mobile information society with its innovative products and solutions. Nokia is the leading mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile, fixed and IP networks, related services as well as multimedia terminals. In 1999, net sales totaled EUR 19.8 billion (USD 19.9 billion). Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is listed on the New York (NOK), Helsinki, Stockholm, London, Frankfurt and Paris stock exchanges and employs more than 55 000 people.
