February 17, 2000

Nokia was chosen as a radio network supplier for Suomen 2G and 3G GSM network in Finland.

Nokia will deliver a GSM - WCDMA radio network including the triple mode (GSM, EDGE, WCDMA) Nokia UltraSite base station solution. Part of the base stations will be delivered as WCDMA capable.

"We are pleased to co-operate with Suomen 2G and 3G. They have an ambitious target of developing value-added services to customers in this very demanding mobile market. This agreement is also important for Nokia as it shows the competitiveness of our third generation WCDMA solution", says Mr. Juhani Koivula, Area General Manager, Nokia Networks.

Suomen 2G and 3G are Finland's newest operators. Suomen 2G Oy was granted a license to operate the fourth digital cellular network in Finland in January this year. The company has been founded by 12 regional, private companies of the Finnet Group. In addition to them, 26 telecommunications operators of the same group will be taken in as partners in the company. The same companies, together with NetCom AB, Sweden, own Suomen 3G Oy, to which the government granted a license for third generation mobile networks in March 1999.

Nokia is paving the way to the mobile information society with its innovative products and solutions. The company is the leading mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile, fixed and IP networks related services as well as multimedia terminals. In 1999, Nokia's net sales totaled EUR 19.8 billion (USD 19.9 billion). Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is listed on the New York (NOK), Helsinki, Stockholm, London, Frankfurt and Paris stock exchanges and employs more than 55 000 people.
