Nokia wins contract to supply KKF.net with DSL Broadband Network in Germany
November 15, 1999

Nokia has been awarded a contract to supply digital subscriber line (DSL) broadband IP access network equipment to KKF.net, a leading Internet Service Provider in Germany.

KKF.net will now be able to implement one of the first Symmetric DSL (SDSL) networks in Germany. The company plans to extend these services to serveral urban centres across Germany, starting in Minden and Hannover.

The order includes Nokia D50e Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers (DSLAM), which support SDSL and both full-rate and G.Lite Asymmetric DSL (ADSL) technologies.

"The scalability and flexibility of the Nokia D50e DSL access multiplexer is ideal for us as we can expand our network requirements as our business grows, particularly during the start-up phase," said Marc Keilwerth, member of the technical board, KKF.net.

"The Nokia D50e DSLAM enables service providers to cost-effectively deliver both voice and data to end users via ordinary copper pairs, giving access to the vast potential of the Internet," says Vesa Tykkyläinen, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Broadband Systems, Nokia Networks. "This is an important step for KKF.net in providing one of the first SDSL networks in Germany, offering business customers broadband data services."

KKF.net is an independent German Internet Service provider based in Minden, Germany. The company, which has its roots in the system integration business, offers a wide range of services - from Internet access to Web design right on up to software development. KKF.net customers include Melitta, Johnson Controls and other well-known companies.
