Broadband Wireless Internet Access Zones To Hit
September 14, 1999
Atlanta's Networld+Interop Conference
Nokia IP Mobility Solution Delivered to Attendees on the Go at N+I
NetWorld+Interop delgates will make history as they access the Internet and their corporate networks wirelessly at megabit speeds -- simply by inserting a PC LAN card into their laptops. Nokia, using its IP Mobility technology, will provide attendees with broadband wireless access within selected areas of the Georgia World Congress Center, the Omni @ CNN Center, the Westin Peachtree Hotel and at Atlanta's Hartsfield airport. The Nokia IP Mobility solution includes a comprehensive portfolio of standards-based wireless LAN products designed to provide broadband wireless connectivity for mobile professionals.
Recognizing the need to deliver a full service to conference attendees, Nokia and ZD Events, have partnered in the inaugural delivery of IP Mobility services at NetWorld + Interop, Atlanta. Nokia is providing the hardware, engineering and service management, and ZD is supplying the internet access to enable wireless "access zones" to 500 registered N+I delegates to demonstrate first hand the reality that work is no longer just a place.
Nokia, through its relationships with application service providers are also working to further extend this IP Mobility solution into other public access zones throughout other hotels and airports around the country.
"The message is clear - the future of the Internet is wireless," said Dan MacDonald, Vice President Marketing at Nokia Internet Communications. "Nokia continues to deliver solutions which enable mobile professionals to access the information most important to them when they are away from their desk. This initiative clearly demonstrates our vision of the Mobile Information Society by giving delegates of the most significant networking show access to this groundbreaking technology."
Attendees of the NetWorld+Interop Conference will be among the first in the world to experience the benefits of IP Mobility: the freedom to be away from their desk but still connected to the information they need - when they need it.
"Nokia access zones will add an exciting new dimension to NetWorld+Interop," said Valerie Williamson, vice president and general manager of the event. "Our conference attendees will benefit greatly from this experience of being connected while at the show. With Nokia, we are able to provide the instant network access people need and expect to remain productive while on the road."
