OpenService and Nokia Partner to Enhance Management of Secure Communications Devices
September 15, 1999

-- Agreement to Benefit Large Enterprises, ISPs With Turn-Key, Easy-to-Use Security Management Solution --

Today at Networld+Interop OpenServiceŽ, Inc. and Nokia announced a partnership to provide enhanced manageability to Nokia's IP Security Solutions. Large enterprises and ISPs will be able to license OpenService's IntruderWatchTM and TrendWatchTM when they purchase Nokia's plug-and-play IP330, IP450, and IP650 integrated router/firewall products. This new functionality will allow Internet service providers, corporations and other organizations to easily manage multiple firewall systems running on different platforms, and enable them to quickly identify and react to critical security threats. The two companies are demonstrating their solution at the Nokia booth this week at the Networld+Interop exhibition in Atlanta.

"Users demand secure communications devices, and must be able to manage that security while planning for future growth. Our products offer them that manageability, and will ultimately lead the way in secure enterprise management for e-commerce," said Lars Graf, founder and CEO of OpenService, Inc. "This is a terrific opportunity to work with a high-caliber organization like Nokia and enhance the integrated security offering to their customers."

IntruderWatch for Nokia enables system, network and security administrators to manage multiple Nokia firewall systems - as well as other Unix and NT server resources - from one or more remote locations and across the Internet. The software protects against a variety of security and system problems, and forwards to the administrators only meaningful summary alerts for real-time decision-making. IntruderWatch is Check Point OPSEC (Open Platform for Secure Enterprise Connectivity) certified, and works directly with the Check Point FireWall-1TM enterprise security suite. TrendWatch enables administrators to quantify their service levels through interactive utilization charts. It can display firewall information and product batch performance reports and track usage patterns not always apparent from traditional data streams.

"Our customers' networks are rapidly growing in size and complexity and we see IntruderWatch as a valuable tool to help them keep pace with that growth," said Don Jaworski, vice president and general manager, Nokia IP Routing Group. "By combining a high performance network access solution with iron-clad security, we are offering our customers the industry's most complete IP security solution in a simple, plug-and-play security appliance."
