Nokia Boosts IP Security Solutions with WebSense Enterprise Internet Access Management System
September 15, 1999
-- Websense Enterprise for Nokia IP Security Appliances Enables Plug-and-Play Content Filtering Capability for Enterprises and ISPs --
Today at Networld+Interop Nokia announced it is enhancing its line of IP Security appliances by offering full Internet access monitoring and management through a partnership with Websense, Inc. Customers now have the option to gain complete control over their organization's Internet access by purchasing Websense preloaded on one of Nokia's IP routing platforms that are specially designed for easy plug-and-play installation. The enhanced offering enables corporations to quickly and easily install systems to block and/or monitor access to certain types of Internet content and allows ISPs to offer value added content filtering services.
"By adding Websense Enterprise to our appliances, we're allowing organizations to gain complete control over all traffic entering and exiting the network," said Don Jaworski, vice president and general manager, Nokia IP Routing Group. "Websense Enterprise builds on the intelligence of Check Point FireWall-1 to offer enterprises protection against the legal risks associated with offensive Internet content in the work place and ISP's an additional revenue stream at a very low cost of installation."
About Websense Enterprise for Nokia
Websense Enterprise for Nokia is specially designed for Nokia IP Security Appliance Platforms. Websense Enterprise is designed for organizations and schools seeking to save bandwidth and productivity, as well as to protect themselves against liability issues associated with unfettered Internet use. Websense uses proprietary software that scans search engines, USENET and site lists to locate questionable new Web sites, newsgroups and chat rooms as soon as they come online.
Researchers review URLs to determine if they meet criteria for inclusion in the Websense database. All sites are revisited to ensure continuing accuracy. Websense automatically downloads the newest database every night so customers' lists of potentially unacceptable sites are always current.
"Given the documented costs and liabilities the Internet can bring, it's important that organizations establish and enforce policies regarding its use," said John Carrington, chairman and CEO of Websense. "The Websense solution, coupled with Nokia's expertise in IP Security, offers total security and efficiency in a simple plug-and-play network appliance for networks of any size."
