Nokia and MIND CTI open IP Telephony for Mainstream Business
September 28, 1999

Nokia and MIND offer comprehensive billing and management solution, enabling the deployment of cutting edge VoIP technology.

Opening IP Telephony to businesses and other organizations around the world, Nokia and MIND CTI today announce the extended integration of the Nokia IP Telephony solution and the award winning MIND-iPhonEXTM customer care and billing solution.

Nokia is committed to developing and maintaining open interfaces to the applications that service providers require to be competitive and responsive to their customers. The integration of MIND's customer care and billing system now provides a direct interface to Nokia's core IP Telephony elements. This direct interface leverages Nokia's advanced call processing, to add consortium settlements and prepaid features through real time billing.

"As an IP Telephony service provider, it is essential to offer flexible ways to manage customer accounts and efficient methods of invoicing them accordingly. Today's customers have very diverse needs and demand a variety of ways to subscribe and pay for their service", said Dan MacDonald, VP of Marketing, Nokia Internet Communications "Nokia and MIND together are offering a comprehensive billing and management solution, enabling the deployment with cutting edge VoIP technology.

Service providers can now create and offer prepaid telephony services and manage consortium-type settlements with ease. It is an off the shelf product that requires minimal post-integration of customer care and billing. Various types of both credit and prepaid accounts can be supported, enabling service providers to reach the broadest range of IP Telephony customers from collective enterprise customers to individuals buying debit cards at a fuel station.

This new functionality, all included in the Nokia IP Telephony 4.0 release, will be commercially available in the 4th quarter of 1999.
