Hunan Unicom continues with Nokia for further GSM network expansion in China

Beijing Nokia Mobile Telecommunications Ltd., one of Nokia's joint ventures in China, and Hunan Unicom have signed an agreement for the expansion of their GSM network in China. The contract, valued at almost USD 13 million will see the creation of additional network capacity in the cities of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiantang.

Nokia will deliver GSM 900 equipment including its mobile switching centres, base stations and base station controllers. A wide range of customer services will also be provided, covering network planning, implementation, software maintenance and development. Under the agreement, deliveries are to begin immediately.

"With this agreement, Nokia is continuing to build on its position as one of the leading end-to-end network suppliers in the country, providing high quality solutions and services to meet the needs of expanding GSM operators such as Hunan Unicom."
