Nokia to Form a New Nokia Internet Communications Unit Concentrating on Serving Corporate Customers and Internet Service Providers

Nokia will combine three units and establish Nokia Internet Communications to serve Enterprises and Internet Service Providers. The changes will be effective as of October 1. Nokia Internet Communications will consist of Nokia Wireless Business Communications, Nokia Wireless Software Solutions and Nokia IP Application and Connectivity Platforms. Nokia Internet Communications will offer Nokia's corporate customers a wide range of Nokia products and services as well as an access to Nokia's strong expertise in the areas of IP and mobility.

"Nokia's product offering to corporations and Internet Service Providers has grown fast and includes now a full set of solutions to give people and organizations the freedom to access information on the move," says Pekka Ala-Pietilä, President, Nokia. "We believe that Nokia Internet Communications will further strengthen our relationship with the enterprise market and Internet Service Providers. Nokia Internet Communications will offer Nokia's superb expertise in the very latest wireless LAN, IP Telephony, IP Routing, Security, and WAP technologies to create more possibilities for mobile communications."

Mr T. Kent Elliott will be heading Nokia Internet Communications. Commenting on the creation of the new unit Mr Elliott said: "New applications will be driving the creation of the Mobile Information Society. Nokia Internet Communications will be able to provide its customers with flexible platforms to enable the creation of many new innovative mobile applications. Through Nokia Internet Communications Nokia will increase its strength in Internet related systems and applications and further enhance its services to enterprises directly and through service providers." Mr. Elliott reports to Pekka Ala-Pietila.

Nokia Wireless Business Communications develops enterprise solutions including Nokia Wireless LAN products and IP Telephony Solutions. Nokia IP Application and Connectivity Platforms offers world class routing capabilities with security and mobility applications. Nokia Wireless Software Solutions develop WAP technology and mobile public and private Internet solutions and applications for corporations and service providers. In addition, they provide mobile software platforms for software developers and system integrators.
