Nokia to supply TETRA network in Lazio, Italy

Nokia, working in co-operation with a temporary group of Italian companies SITE SpA, TELI SpA, Convert Italia SpA and ETS srl, has been awarded a contract for the delivery of a turnkey digital TETRA professional mobile radio network to Arma Dei Carabinieri, in the Lazio region, in Italy. The contract, valued at approximately EUR 26 million, marks a new TETRA customer for Nokia.
The first phase of the network is expected to be in operation at the end of this year and will enable secure, professional services for Italy's national police force. It will provide coverage for Lazio, including enhanced services for Year 2000 celebrations in Rome.
Nokia will deliver and implement a complete TETRA network including switches, base stations, dispatching equipment, network management system, terminals and related customer services.
