Nokia to expand New World Mobility's GSM 1800 network in Hong Kong

Nokia and New World Mobility have signed an agreement on the expansion of their GSM 1800 network in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China.
The contract is valued at USD 40 million. Deliveries start immediately and the expansion is expected to be launched this August.
Nokia will deliver its mobile switching equipment, base stations, base station controllers, short message service centres and the Nokia NMS 2000 network management system to New World Mobility. In addition, a range of customer services will be provided, including implementation, training and technical support.
Nokia is the sole infrastructure supplier for New World Mobility's GSM 1800 network. Launched in 1997, the network is now leading Hong Kong's GSM 1800 market by serving over 390,000 subscribers as of June 1999.
