Nokia opens a R&D unit in Pori, Finland

Nokia will strengthen its R&D operations in Finland by establishing a unit in Pori, Finland.
The unit will concentrate on developing software to mobile phones for Nokia Mobile Phones and to network management tools for Nokia Telecommunications.
The Pori R&D unit will be operational on July 1st, 1999.
"During recent years we have had a close co-operation with Tampere University of Technology, Pori School of Technology and Economics. Last year we established a joint telecom software lab in the University premises, so this is a logical step further", says Arto Kiema, Vice President, R&D, Nokia Mobile Phones.
