Nokia to Demonstrate Integrated Broadband IP Access Solution at SuperComm '99
June 09, 1999

Nokia, a leading industry supplier of communications network solutions and services worldwide, will demonstrate revolutionary integrated IP and Fast Internet Access solutions that enable a variety of applications for Small Office/Home Office, Remote/Branch Office and teleworker end-users in booth #4719 at SuperComm '99 in Atlanta.

Using a wide range of interoperable network elements, Nokia's demonstrations will include such advanced solutions as high-speed Internet access, Virtual Private Network (VPN), Wireless LAN (wireless office connectivity), IP Telephony, Multimedia Education and Streaming Video.

Nokia's Broadband IP Access solution includes a comprehensive selection of leading edge technology that delivers true end-to-end IP connectivity. At the heart of the solution is the Nokia SpeedlinkTM (the Nokia Eksos B20 for ETSI markets) ATM/DSL Access Multiplexer, a highly scalable and flexible multi-service system that enables operators to provide high-speed digital data services simultaneously with voice traffic over fixed line copper networks. The total solution components include the Nokia R700 Remote Access Node, the Nokia IP Authenticator and standard interfaces for an open choice of Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). The Nokia Broadband IP Access solution also incorporates tools for network and service providers to efficiently operate their networks, including the Nokia Network Management System, Customer Care and Billing System, and Nokia Provideo, together providing an advanced service provisioning system. The complete Broadband IP Access solution package also contains system management, systems integration and customer services.

The open platform provided by Nokia Broadband IP Access solution is a feature of Nokia's Global IP Mobility concept - announced last month at Networld + Interop, Las Vegas - and enables the types of applications being demonstrated here at SuperComm, including Nokia security services, VPN, IP Telephony and Wireless LAN systems. Moreover, interworking with other vendors' products, such as voice gateways and customer premises equipment, allows the Nokia Broadband IP Access solution to provide even more features, functionality and services.

Whether network and service providers offer data only, voice and data, or fully integrated multi-media services to their customers, Nokia's highly scalable multiservice Broadband IP Access solution, enables them to cost-effectively expand their capacity to meet the mass-market needs of business and individual users. Nokia products seamlessly interoperate with embedded legacy networks and offer a choice of system configurations to meet an operator's specific business objectives and help them reach the broadest addressable market.

"Most importantly," points out Jussi Ilmarinen, Vice President, Nokia Fast Internet Solutions, "the Nokia Broadband IP Access solution will help put network and service providers in a strong position to meet the rapidly accelerating demand for the next generation of converged voice and data services and full mobile multimedia services over the IP network. With Nokia's commitment to innovation, we will always be ahead of the market in developing new solutions, products and services to help our customers meet the needs of a growing and diverse marketplace."
