Nokia inspired technology and distinctive product innovations @ CommunicAsia '99
June 22, 1999
Paving the way to a mobile information society
Nokia today showcased its innovative range of product offerings and latest technological solutions at CommunicAsia '99 in an equally unique, specially-constructed three-level exhibition boot.
Against this fitting backdrop, Nokia launched two distinctive new products globally for the first time - the Nokia 8850 and the Nokia Card Phone 2.0.
Based on the theme "Nokia Brings the Internet to Life", the exhibition booth is divided into four areas; namely, @ Home, @ Work, @ Profit and @ You. Each area demonstrates cutting edge technologies and solutions which reflect Nokia's approach in delivering distinctive products to meet all customers' needs. Nokia's display also reinforces our commitment in developing exceptionally designed products and solutions which can enhance the quality of people's lives well into the 21st Century.
Increasingly, today's workforce is highly mobile. Business executives and people in general need constant and reliable connectivity while on the move. Corporate customers are looking at the need for such services as tele-commuting, content hosting and virtual Private Networks (VPN), while telecommuters want easy after-hours access and rapid file downloading
At Nokia, we bring you the solutions to meet your needs @ Work. In a compact booth area, we will be demonstrating different yet complementary data mobility solutions in the form of Wireless LAN and High Speed Circuit Switched Data. Together with these, we will also be showing Nokia's latest IP and Internet solutions that are tailored for the corporate environment through Nokia IP Security, Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and GSM Intranet Office.
In the @ Home segment, we illustrate how computing in the home is increasingly pervasive, with home appliances becoming smarter with more computing power. Coupled with new enhanced standards for digital coding of audio and video and the significant growth of Internet on-line services, we are now seeing a need for an intelligent solution for communication services in the home. E-commerce and home shopping are expected to grow explosively in the coming years and the Internet will be the key delivery mechanism, increasing the demand for access speed and connectivity to the Internet.
@ Home, we enable you to maximize your experience with the Internet through our demonstrations of Fast Internet Access, the Nokia Mediamaster set-top box and Voice over IP solutions.
While all of the new exciting possibilities will contribute a wealth of choice for consumers and businesses alike, Nokia has always been focused on developing equipment, solutions and services that will enable network operators, service providers and corporate IT managers to deliver their service in a cost efficient manner. In the @ Profit area on the 2nd story of the stand, Nokia focuses on driving down lifetime cost through minimizing operational expenditure and optimizing the capital expenditure.
At CommunicAsia, we will demonstrate Nokia's full range of innovative products and solutions in the following areas: General Packet Radio Service, Voice over IP, IP Transport, Service Management & Integration, Broadband IP Access, Network Management, GSM Capacity and Coverage, Intelligent Networks, Value Added Services, Switching, and Third Generation mobile technology (3G).
"Nokia aims to lead the way towards the Wireless Information Society by supporting open platforms and standards that enable wide market adoption and stimulate growth. Important stepping stones on the path to 3rd Generation systems and the onset of the Wireless Information Society are presented here at CommunicAsia through Nokia's innovative range of products and end-to-end solutions. Exciting concepts for the third generation of mobile communications are also presented," said Kari Ahola, Senior Vice President, South East Asia & Pacific, Nokia Telecommunications.
At the @ You area, we give you a deeper insight to Nokia's personalised innovative products created specially for you. Nokia's philosophy is based on anticipating and fulfilling the individual lifestyle needs of our consumers worldwide.
