The foundation stone of the new Nokia factory laid in Hungary

The foundation stone of Nokia´s new mobile phone factory in Komaróm, Hungary, was laid today.
As announced in July, 1998, Nokia will invest close to FIM 1 billion in the new plant, together with the expansion of mobile phone production capacity at the Salo plant in Finland.
The first phase of the new factory construction in Hungary will be accomplished by the end of November and production of mobile phones is expected to start in December, 1999. The 25,000 square metre manufacturing site will produce mobile phones primarily for the European market. Professional training of approximately 200 people to be employed this year, will start in September. The number of employees at the new factory is expected to more than triple by the end of next year.
