Nokia extends Globe's GSM network in the Philippines
March 09, 1999

Nokia Telecommunications has signed a frame agreement with Globe Telecom for the expansion of their GSM network.

Nokia will initially deliver a major network expansion valued at USD 17 million.

Today the Philippine GSM network serves the main cities of Metro Manila and Cebu. With the expansion, the coverage and subscriber capacity will be increased and the network will provide additional value added services.

Nokia will deliver to Globe Telecom base station controllers (BSC), base stations (BTS) and complete transmission facilities.

Nokia has been delivering the GSM network including mobile switching centrres, BSC's and BTS as well as associated transmission hops since 1994.

Nokia Mobile Phones has been supplying mobile phones to the network since it's opening in September 1994.
