Nokia moves Swedish Motala operations to Linköping
March 12, 1999

To secure future growth and recruitment, Nokia Multimedia Terminals intends to move all operations located in Motala, Sweden, to nearby university city Linköping. A software competence centre was established in Linköping already in spring 1998. Closeness to the university, good infrastructure and availability of appropriate premises will facilitate further growth. The move to Nokia's new premises in Linköping's Science Park 'Mjärdevi' will begin in May 1999.

Heikki Koskinen, President Nokia Multimedia Terminals, said: "Nokia Multimedia Terminals faces a challenging development in the future. We move to Linköping to grow. Our business develops at a very fast pace and is highly competitive. It is therefore vital to establish close relations to the technical universities and other high-tech companies. In addition to good communications and infrastructure, Linköping offers this possibility and is well suited to fit our future needs".

Nokia Multimedia Terminals is a division of the business group Nokia Communication Products, focusing on the development of digital multimedia terminals for digital television and interactive services via satellite, cable and terrestrial networks. The division has 450 employees world-wide including 240 in Sweden.

Nokia is the world's leading mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile and fixed telecom networks including related customer services. Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is listed on five European Stock Exchanges and on the New York Stock Exchange (NOK.A), has sales in over 130 countries and employs more than 44,000 people worldwide.
