Bringing broadband to all with Nokia Eksos B30
March 18, 1999

Nokia today introduces at CeBIT '99 in Hannover, Germany, the newest member of the Nokia Eksos family of multiservice access nodes, Nokia Eksos B30.

It enables fast access to the Internet and other data services, cost-effectively even to areas where subscriber numbers are low.

Using proven ADSL technology, Eksos B30 allows operators to offer high-speed services and traditional voice service over existing telephone lines, making broadband services a reality today.

Nokia Eksos B30 can support a wide range of services, supplying residential users with fast Internet access or entertainment services, providing telecommuters with a connection to the company network, or connecting a company's remote office to the main office.

The Nokia Eksos B30 is a compact Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM). This highly flexible node can be installed together with the Nokia narrowband multiservice access node, Eksos N20. With this unbeatable combination of Nokia Eksos N20 and B30, operators can deliver the complete range of narrowband and broadband services from a single node.

Nokia Eksos B30 utilises ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) and ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) technology, but is also designed to develop with future technologies, including VDSL (Very high-speed DSL).

Nokia launched earlier this month a complete solution aimed at revolutionising access to Internet Protocol (IP) services. The Nokia Broadband IP Access solution integrates Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) and IP technology, to provide operators with one of the most advanced end-to-end high-speed Internet access systems available. System components include the Nokia Eksos R700 Remote Access Node, Nokia Eksos M Network Terminals and Nokia Eksos B Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexers (DSLAMs).

Nokia's access solutions provide operators with the tools to connect end users to network services. Nokia fast Internet solutions give operators cost-efficient IP connectivity. Nokia is also a leading supplier of narrowband access solutions, based on the V5.2 standard. Nokia has already supplied access solutions to over forty countries worldwide and provides operators with a smooth migration into broadband services.

Nokia is the world's leading mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile and fixed telecom networks including related customer services. Nokia also supplies solutions and products for fixed and wireless datacom, as well as multimedia terminals and computer monitors. In 1998, net sales totaled FIM 79.2 billion (USD 15.7 billion, EUR 13.3 billion). Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is listed on five European Stock Exchanges and on the New York Stock Exchange (NOK.A), has sales in over 130 countries and employs more than 44,000 people worldwide.
