Nokia launches new fast Internet solution for business users - bringing increased data speeds to the office
March 18, 1999
Nokia today launched a comprehensive solution for network operators and Internet Service Providers, to enable the provision of high speed Internet Access and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) for business users.
Introduced at CeBIT 99 in Hannover, Germany, the Nokia Dedicated IP Access solution combines Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) equipment with IP routing technology, together with associated services and network management. The solution is based on Multirate Symmetric DSL (MSDSL) technology.
Business users often place heavy demands on the company network; the Nokia Dedicated IP Access solution can be used to provide high speed intranet services, high speed business Internet access, VPN and remote working.
The new solution offers the possibility to build cost-effective broadband connections for Local Area Networks. The main elements in this solution are the Nokia Eksos i20 edge router, Eksos M7 MSDSL modem as well as VPN200 orIP400 integrated firewall routers. Network management, service management and other additional tools form an integral part of the solution.
"The Nokia Dedicated IP Access solution brings real broadband connectivity to the office, removing bottlenecks in traditional networks," says Jussi Ilmarinen, Vice President, Fast Internet Solutions, Nokia Telecommunications. "There is a clear demand for high bandwidth solutions as networks evolve to carry increasing volumes of data traffic. Nokia is able to meet those requirements, incorporating world-class routing and security features."
Nokia's access solutions provide operators with the tools to connect end users to network services. Nokia is also a leading supplier of narrowband access solutions, based on the V5.2 standard and has already supplied access solutions to over forty countries worldwide, offering operators a smooth migration into broadband services.
Nokia is the world's leading mobile phone supplier and a leading supplier of mobile and fixed telecom networks including related customer services.
