Nokia to expand Taiyuan GSM network in China

Nokia and Taiyuan Telecommunications Bureau have signed an agreement valued at approximately USD 50 million for further expansion of the Taiyuan GSM network in China.

Nokia will deliver GSM 900 equipment including its mobile switching centres home location registers, base station controllers and base stations. Nokia will also supply customer services including installation, network planning and optimization, technical support and software upgrades to MII Phase 2 specification. Deliveries will begin immediately and the expansion should be operational during the first quarter of next year.

Nokia will remain as the main supplier for the network and with this third expansion, the capacity in the Taiyan network will more than double, to serve half a million subscribers.
