Nokia wins contract to supply complete fixed network solution in Germany

Nokia and Drillisch AG, suppliers of fixed and mobile communications services based in Cologne, Germany have signed a frame agreement for the provision of a total fixed network solution. The agreement covers the supply of both Nokia switching and transmission equipment.
Drillisch aim to have the enhanced network in commercial operation during the summer of 1999. Nokia will supply its DX 220 digital switching systems, based on the Nokia DX 200 switching platform, its Synfonet® transmission solution, the Nokia NMS Network Management System, as well as a comprehensive range of customer services.

"This will enable us to offer our customers a broader portfolio of competitive, market-oriented services."

Drillisch AG, with company headquarters in Cologne, offers mobile communication services and phones, fixed communication services and intelligent technologies and systems. The company (incl. Alphatel-Group) has 180 employees and achieved total turnover amounting to DM 230 million in 1998. Drillisch tripled its subscriber base in 1998 - from 40.000 at the end of 1997 to 132.000 at the end of 1998. In the fixed network sector, Drillisch aims to build up own fixed net capacities - with 2 million minutes per day at the beginning of the second quarter 1999. At the end of 1999 Drillisch plans to enhance this capacity to 15 million minutes per day. Drillisch AG has been trading shares on the Frankfurt stock exchange in the "Neuer Markt" since April 1998.
