Nokia to supply SOL Communications with complete GSM 1900 network

Nokia and SOL Communications, based in Phoenix, Arizona, have signed a multi-year agreement for the delivery of a complete GSM 1900 network. The contract is valued at more than USD 30 million and equipment deliveries are to begin immediately.


Nokia will provide SOL Communications with its Artus Messaging Platform, enabling the provision of Internet-based messaging services. Nokia's Mobile Switching Centres, Home Location Registers, Base Station Controllers, Base Stations and the Nokia Network Management System, including the Nokia Traffica monitoring tool will also be supplied. The deal also sees the provision of an extensive range of customer services covering installation, radio frequency planning, as well as implementation and maintenance of the system.

"Their experience in the provision of network planning and management of state of the art GSM 1900 network technology enables us to provide excellent mobile services to our customers."

With this co-operation, the number of operators to which Nokia supplies GSM technology increases to 78 operators in 37 countries. Nokia ranks as the world's largest supplier of GSM 1800 networks and one of the two largest in GSM 900.
