Fire at Nokia's Haukipudas factory, Finland

A fire broke out in the early hours of this morning at Nokia's Haukipudas production facility in Finland. The factory produces transmission equipment for fixed line networks.
The alarm was raised at around 12.10am and the fire is believed to have started in the canteen area, the cause is at present unknown. Local fire brigades and additional forces from outside the area have so far prevented the flames from spreading to the production line area and they are continuing to fight the fire.
No-one has been hurt following the incident. The Haukipudas factory is part of Nokia Telecommunications' Fixed Access Systems business unit, producing fixed line transmission equipment. Around 700 people are employed at the factory.
The premises and production lines are adequately insured. In addition the factory is insured against production interruption.
