PCS'98: Hand painted covers allow further personalization for Nokia 5100 phones through Nokia OK Recommend Painter Program
September 23, 1998

Painted covers complement the Nokia 5100 series of digital phones featuring the industry's first user-changeable faceplates

WHAT: Nokia, one of the world's largest wireless phone manufacturers, announces its Nokia OK program, a group of recommended painters creating hand-painted designs for Nokia's 5100 series Xpress-On covers. The program includes a small number of recommended painters that have been carefully selected and audited by Nokia to create customized paintings for mobile phone covers.

By maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship, materials and environmental protection, Nokia allows approve
vendors to use the Nokia OK as proof of their high quality work. Designs are unique and individually painted, ranging
from flowers and flags to stripes and animals.

WHY: The program allows consumers further personalization of their phones and completes the upper tier of a full range of accessory options available for the Nokia 5100 series including solid and seasonal options from Nokia Original Accessories.

COST: Estimated retail price $50 - $75

HOW: The Xpress-On covers are used only with the new Nokia 5100 series of digital phones, the first digital phones that allow consumers a true choice of color. Users can change different color covers - just snap on and snap off - in a matter of seconds and without any tools.

More than just a fashionable phone, the Nokia 5100 series also packs consumer-minded options into its sleek styling.
The new series of digital wireless phones features an alarm clock, three standard electronic games and a battery
offering more than a week of stand-by time with- out needing a charge.
