WHY: 3G is the future of wireless telecommunications. The decisions and developments being made today are major steps toward the information society that Nokia and others envision.

The future networks... will accelerate capacity improvements, make high-speed mass communications fully possible and enable the introduction of this extensive range of new services, leading to even higher global volumes, economies of scale and rapid further development towards a wireless world."
