Nokia delivers Actionet mobile radio system to Transcom, Taiwan

Nokia and Transcom Inc., Taiwan have signed an agreement for the supply of Nokia's Actionet trunked mobile radio system to Taiwan, based on the open MPT 1327 standard. The system is scheduled to be operational in September this year.
Nokia will supply a complete Actionet system to Transcom, including switches, base stations and multiplexers. A range of customer services will also be provided, including installation, planning, supervision and integration tests.
Transcom will use Nokia's Actionet system to offer advanced services to professional mobile radio users in Taiwan, targetting those customers in the transportation segment, such as truck, taxi and bus companies.
Transcom Inc. is a new trunking operator. The Taiwan government granted the north regional license of Taiwan to Transcom in May 1997. The company expects to have at least 6,000 subscribers by the end of 1999.
Nokia is a leading supplier of MPT 1327 standard trunked mobile networks and has delivered its MPT 1327 based Actionet system to more than 130 customers in more than 40 countries. MPT 1327 is the most widely used open trunked mobile radio standard in the world.
