Ace of Base uses Nokia's mobile phones
September 10, 1998

The members of the Swedish pop music band Ace of Base have today received the new Nokia 8810 mobile phones. The group is on its first visit to Finland, and they will be performing tonight at a charity concert at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium.

Ace of Base is one of the world's most popular pop groups. Their first album "Happy Nations" has sold over 22 million copies around the world. The newest hit "Life is a Flower" reached the European TOP 10 charts right after its release in July 1998. The single from the album sold gold during its first month in the United States. Ace of Base has so far sold over 30 million records and over 10 million singles globally, thus making it the most successful European band in the 1990's.

"Ace of Base has become a trade mark of modern pop music in the world. Their lyrics reflect the basic human values of freedom and individuality. Combined with excellent music, Ace of Base has created a success formula to catch the minds of a wide audience. Nokia, world's leading mobile phone company, is glad that Ace of Base has chosen us to be their partner in connecting people. We are proud to present them with the Nokia 8810 phones, our masterpiece of elegance and style." said Tapio Hedman, Vice President, Communications, Nokia Mobile Phones.
