Nokia supplies fixed switching equipment to Cable and Wireless, UK
September 07, 1998
Nokia and Cable and Wireless Communications have signed an agreement for the supply of Nokia's DX 200 switching platform to enhance its existing network in the UK. The switching equipment, which is already operational in the Central London and Berkshire areas will be used to provide a range of services to corporate customers including Internet Service Providers. Nokia will also provide customer services including installation, commissioning and on-site service support.
"Our main reasons for selecting Nokia were their ability to provide the advanced solution we needed, within our demanding time-frames and at the right price," says Mr Paul Linsey, Manager, National Network Planning, Cable and Wireless Communications.
"The demands of Internet users have been growing at an unprecedented rate. Cable and Wireless Communications required a switching platform with state of the art capabilities, which could meet their future growth targets," explains Mr Peter Kühne, Managing Director, Nokia Telecommunications, UK. "The flexibility of DX 200 will allow a seamless integration with Cable and Wireless Communications' existing Intelligent Network platform."
