Nokia supplies fixed access equipment to Liao He Petroleum Exploration Bureau, China
August 19, 1998

Nokia and the Telecommunications Company of Liao He Petroleum Exploration Bureau, China, have signed an agreement for the delivery of the Nokia Synfonet® SDH solution to expand the existing transmission network in Liao He.

Nokia will supply its Synfonet STM-16 equipment, network management system and customer services such as installation, training and technical support. Nokia has already supplied Liao He with DX 200 switching equipment, a NMT 450 cellular network and PDH transmission solutions.

The third largest oilfield in China, Liao He Petroleum Exploration Bureau selected Nokia because of its competence and experience in the provision of transmission equipment.

"The Nokia Synfonet solution provides high flexibility and will enable Liao He to meet growth demands," states Mr Folke Ahlbäck, Senior Vice President, Nokia China. "This new stage of our co-operation, which began in 1986, can only strengthen the network in Liao He. This agreement sees Nokia as a frontrunner in the supply of transmission equipment to Chinese oilfields."

Nokia has developed a comprehensive SDH solution, the Nokia Synfonet, for access and transport networks, incorporated under a full network management system.
