Nokia delivers fixed network equipment to Mobilix, Denmark
July 02, 1998
Danish operator Mobilix has chosen Nokia to supply equipment for its fixed network for combined fixed and mobile network services. Nokia has previously supplied Mobilix's GSM network.
Nokia will supply the Nokia DX 200 switch, an intelligent network platform for the creation of value-added services and a smooth combination of fixed and mobile services, as well as the Nokia Eksos access node with ETSI V5 standard interface.
"Nokia was a natural choice for us, as we already have a good working relationship with Nokia and now can continue building fixed network services on the existing mobile platform simply. The integration of fixed and mobile services is a decisive factor for the Danish telecommunications market, and Mobilix plans some exiting services that the Danes have not yet seen", says Monique Moullé-Zetterström", Chief Executive Officer at Mobilix.
"The choice of Nokia is further strengthened by ElTele Řst, our sister company in Norway, which also chose Nokia for the delivery of their fixed network equipment. This will benefit the customers having activities in both countries and it supports France Telecom's strategy to strengthen its position in the Scandinavian market, with combined fixed and mobile network services. Nokia is a professional network supplier and the common platform ensures larger integration across the borders of Scandinavia", Monique Moullé-Zetterström continues.
"For Nokia, this co-operation with Mobilix and ElTele Řst, both subsidiaries of France Telecom, has a big strategic importance, as now we can expand our collaboration to include fixed network services. The synergy across the borders is exactly what the customer wants and it is well-suited to our way of working. We are looking forward to continuing this collaboration to the benefit of our customers", says René Svendsen-Tune, Managing Director, Nokia Telecommunications, Denmark.
Mobilix is a GSM operator in Denmark that is now expanding it operations to fixed network services. Nokia and Mobilix have been co-operating since 1997 and Nokia is the sole GSM system supplier to Mobilix. With this contract Nokia will also be the sole supplier of fixed switching to Mobilix.
