Nokia to supply fourth GSM network expansion to Zhejiang Mobile Communications Co., LTD in USD 200 million contract

In a contract valued at around USD 200 million, Zhejiang Mobile Communications Co., LTD (ZMCC), China have selected Nokia to provide the fourth expansion to its GSM 900 network. Deliveries will begin immediately.
Nokia will deliver high capacity mobile switching centres (MSC), home location registers (HLR), base station controllers and base stations to ZMCC. Nokia will also provide NMS/2000 equipment, as well as supplying services, including installation, network planning and optimisation, training and technical support. This expansion will cover Wenzhou, Ningbo and Taizhou areas in the Zhejiang Province.
"Nokia and Zhejiang began their co-operation in 1995 and we have worked together to build Zhejiang's GSM network to its current level of over one million subscribers in just three years. Having enjoyed such a successful co-operation throughout the first three phases, we are now looking forward to continuing throughout this fourth expansion phase," states Mr Folke Ahlbäck, Senior Vice President, Nokia, Greater China.
