June 08, 1998

During a visit to Spain today, Jorma Ollila announced that Nokia is studying the possibilities of extending its global manufacturing network in Spain. Extending its global GSM manufacturing network, Nokia intends to establish state-of-the art microwave radio and base station controller factories in Spain. In addition to manufacturing, Nokia intends to create a regional competence centre and co-operate with local Spanish universities in the area of radio technologies.

To date, Nokia GSM technology has been supplied or ordered by 70 operators in 36 countries.

Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is a broad-scope telecommunications company supplying mobile phones, mobile and fixed telecommunications networks, data communications solutions, multimedia terminals and computer monitors.
