New GSM customer for Nokia in Kuwait

Nokia and Future Communications to supply GSM 900 solutions to Mobile Telecommunications Co. (K.S.C)

Mobile Telecommunications Co. (K.S.C.) has selected Nokia and its partner, Future Communications Co. (W.L.L) to provide network solutions for the expansion of the Mobile Telecommunications Co. (MTC) GSM 900 mobile network. The contract is valued at approximately FIM 175 million. Deliveries will commence immediately.


Nokia will supply a base station subsystem including a Nokia NMS/2000 network management system to Mobile Telecommunications Co. Additionally, as part of the high quality network demanded by Mobile Telecommunications Co., Nokia will supply its Enhanced Full Rate technology, enabling the operator to offer its customers speech quality comparable to wireline quality in the mobile network. And, to increase available network capacity, Mobile Telecommunications Co. will also use the Nokia Intelligent Underlay-Overlay solution in its network.

"This is an important achievement for Nokia, marking a new GSM customer and country for us,".
