The Nokia 9000i Communicator was honored by PC World with a 1998 World Class Award
June 03, 1998

The Nokia 9000i Communicator was honored by PC World with a 1998 World Class Award for the Best Wireless Communications Product category. The World Class Award winners were announced in the July 1998 issue of PC World and at an awards ceremony held during PC Expo in New York.

The revolutionary Nokia 9000i Communicator combines digital voice, data and personal organizer functions into a single, small-sized and easy-to-use unit. In addition to voice calls, the Nokia 9000i Communicator enables users to send and receive faxes, e-mail and short messages as well as access Internet services and corporate and public databases. The product also provides users with organization functions such as electronic calendar, address book, notepad, calculator and world clock.

Celebrating its 16th year, the respected World Class Awards honor the top hardware, software, and Web products in the computer industry. To select the best of the best, PC World's editors, testers, and contributors examined the entire gamut of products that have appeared in the magazine over the past year. Hundreds of products in 60 categories were judged on performance, value, consistency, and innovation. The magazine also polled its readers to name the best companies for hardware and software support, and for buying computers via mail order or online.

"The World Class Awards are synonymous with the best products in the industry," stated Cathryn Baskin, editor-in-chief of PC World. "Throughout the year, we search out the standout players in hardware and software for our readers. The World Class Awards allow us to shine the spotlight on the outstanding products and companies that have consistently proven to be top performers in the marketplace."
