Nokia Integrates Nagravision Conditional Access in Second Generation Digital Set-Top Receivers
May 18, 1998
Nokia and Swiss company Kudelski have signed a licensing agreement for Kudelski's NagraVision Conditional Access technology to be integrated in Nokia's second generation digital set-top receivers.
NagraVision is one of the leading Conditional Access systems for digital broadcasts and interactive services via satellite, cable, MMDS and terrestrial. The integration of NagraVision into Nokia's second generation digital set-top receivers, the Nokia Mediamaster, is in line with Nokia's philosophy as a global and flexible supplier in the worldwide set-top box market.
"Always striving to meet customer needs we want the Nokia Mediamaster to be able to support as many different CA systems as possible. NagraVision Conditional Access technology has been chosen by many interesting major and minor operators worldwide. This agreement gives us the possibility to meet the needs of new customers and increase our presence in several important markets", said Christian Heintz, at Nokia Multimedia Network Terminals.
"NagraVision's open architecture strategy provides seamless integration possibilities with set-top boxes. This agreement continues the previous relationship set up with Nokia when we developed the DVB-CI solution and we are very pleased to be working with Nokia as partner," says Ronald Wing, Vice President of Nagra Kudelski.
Nokia provides a broad range of digital set-top boxes for interactive services and reception of broadcasts and data via satellite, cable or terrestrial networks.
