Modernising the telecommunications network in Lithuania
May 06, 1998

The new Nokia DX 200 switch, now taken into commercial traffic by Lietuvos Telekomas, modernises the telecommunications service for 40,000 subscribers in Lithuania. In addition, Lietuvos Telekomas will be able to connect 70,000 new digital subscribers in Vilnius and offer ISDN services. Telekomas is strongly committed to modernise the network with state of the art technology.

Nokia has supplied a variety of equipment to Lithuania Telekomas, including high-capacity Nokia DX 200 switch technology, Remote Subscriber Stages and flexible multiplexing equipment for building the access network. During 1997, Telekomas was able to build up the transmission networks in several cities in Lithuania. Nokia has also provided planning, installation and integration services to Telekomas.

"We are happy to continue our partnership with Nokia", states Mr. Pangonis, General Manager, of Lietuvos Telekomas. "We have been working with Nokia since 1986 and are very happy with the Nokia equipment which we already have implemented in our network including the Nokia DX 200 and a range of Nokia multiplexing equipment."
