Nokia supplies digital terminals to Reuters Ltd.
April 27, 1998

Reuters, the global financial news and information company, has chosen Nokia to supply digital terminals (the Nokia Mediamaster) for its Reuters Television Network (RTV). RTV supplies instant financial information via satellite (Intelsat) directly to customers such as banks, stock brokers and others interested in financial information. Using satellite transmission, business information can be transmitted up to thirty times faster than via traditional telephone lines.

Robert Rajfors, Key Account Project Manager at Nokia said: “I’m very proud that Nokia’s Mediamaster was selected by such a prestigeous company as Reuters. It shows that the Nokia Mediamaster is a superior tool for TV transfer via satellite. It is also a good example of what possibilities digital broadcasting creates”.

Paul Mear, Product Support Manager at Reuters said: “We are glad to be working together with Nokia. We wish our financial information network to be of top quality, and it was therefore of utmost importance to find a supplier we can rely on for up-front technology and user-friendly products”.

Headquartered in Finland, Nokia is a broad-scope telecommunications company supplying mobile phones, mobile and fixed telecommunications networks, data communications solutions, multimedia terminals and PC monitors. With sales in 130 countries, net sales totaled FIM 52.6 billion ($9.8 billion) in 1997. Nokia, listed on NYSE (NOK.A), employs more than 38,000 people worldwide.
