Nokia Display Products, Inc. Launches New XiPlus Series with 21-inch Monitor
April 20, 1998

Enhancements to Xi Product Line Include High Resolution, Flicker-Free at Competitive Pricing

Continuing to meet the demanding engineering standards required by professional IT users, Nokia Display Products, Inc., a leading developer of high-quality display and audio technologies, today announced the introduction of the 21-inch (19.69" viewable) 445XiPlus, an enhanced version of its current 445Xi 21-inch monitor. The 445XiPlus offers users outstanding resolution and performance at a competitive price and is Nokia's first offering in its new XiPlus line, a mid-range series for the corporate user. A 17-inch addition to the XiPlus line, the 447XiPlus, will be introduced to the market next month.

The 445XiPlus supports an optimal resolution of 1280 x 1024 at a refresh rate of 100 Hz and a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 at 88 Hz for flicker-free performance in demanding business and technical applications, such as high-resolution imaging, CAD/CAM, engineering and graphics. This Invar shadow mask display produces extremely sharp, crisp images with a super fine .22 mm horizontal dot pitch. Other enhancements above the current 445Xi monitor include a boost in horizontal scan frequency from 102 kHz to 110 kHz for high-quality image performance and a maximum bandwidth of 230 MHz.

Benefits of European Design

The look and feel of the XiPlus series is modeled after Nokia's current Pro Series displays, including the use of the Nokia Navi-Key™ image control system. Navi-Key™ is exclusive to Nokia and consists of an intuitive rotate-and-press knob on the front panel which controls the On Screen Menu for picture shape, color and clarity.

"Nokia is committed to developing a wide range of high quality, reliable display products to suit every enterprise environment," said John Grundy, Vice President of Marketing, Nokia Display Products, Inc. "The XiPlus series sets an unprecedented standard by delivering superb image resolution in a mid-range price/performance category."

The 445XiPlus' range of features rivals many higher-priced monitors and includes a dual-input D-Sub/BNC connector allowing the user to switch between two CPU inputs. It also supports Plug and Play for easy installation with Windows® 95.

In accordance with the complete line of Nokia monitors, both the 445XiPlus and 447XiPlus are certified TCO'95. TCO'95 sets the world's most rigid safety guidelines regarding electromagnetic emissions, ergonomics and power consumption, as well as prohibits the use of harmful chemicals during manufacturing.

The XiPlus series also meets the most recent guidelines set by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). VESA™ GTF™ (Generalized Timing Formula) brings standardization throughout the monitor market, defining a method for generating general purpose display timings ensuring synchronization in multiple aspect ratios, different resolutions and refresh rates.

The 445XiPlus ships with a three-year limited warranty and a demonstrated mean time between failures (MTBF) exceeding 100,000 hours.

Pricing and Availability

The Nokia 445XiPlus is available immediately at an estimated street price of $1,495. The Nokia 447XiPlus is expected to ship next month with an estimated street price of $649. Nokia displays are available through authorized resellers and distributors.
