Nokia Offers Handset Customers Special Admission through April 30 at the Guggenheim Museums in New York
March 06, 1998
Promotion is Part of Nokia's Sponsorship of China: 5,000 Years
Beginning today and continuing through April 30, Nokia will offer a special promotion for its mobile phone customers at the Guggenheim Museums in New York as part of its sponsorship of the current exhibition, China: 5,000 Years. Persons who present their Nokia wireless phones at the Museum admission desk will receive a free extra admission of equal or lesser value for one accompanying guest. This "bring your phone and bring a friend - free" promotion is available to Nokia mobile phone customers at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Guggenheim Museum SoHo.
"This promotion provides both a meaningful way for Nokia to thank our customers and an expanded audience of visitors to China: 5000 Years," said Olli Kallasvuo, president, Nokia, Inc. "We hope this will result in many first time attendees who will return to the Guggenheim after this exhibit ends."
Nokia is a major sponsor of China: 5,000 Years, a landmark exhibition on view at both the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Guggenheim Museum SoHo through June 3. More than 500 objects from the People's Republic of China, many never before presented in the United States, trace the history of Chinese art from 3000 BCE to the modern era. Nokia's sponsorship of the exhibition is part of the company's ongoing commitment to serving the global community by providing support in the areas of technology research, education, and public broadcasting as well as the arts. Other major sponsors include Lufthansa, Ford Motor Company and The Coca-Cola Company.
In addition to its sponsorship of China: 5,000 Years and this promotion, Nokia unveiled its Nokia 252 Art Edition at the Guggeheim SoHo February 23. Ten limited edition phones, each hand-painted and numbered, are available only in the Guggenheim Museum Stores in New York.
