Tele 1 Europe continues Scandinavia-wide fixed network build with Nokia's DX 200
January 21, 1998

The Swedish operator, Tele 1 Europe, has selected Nokia for the further supply of its DX 200 switching platform. Tele 1 Europe will be implementing the DX 200 equipment as part of their Scandinavia-wide fixed network. The deliveries will commence immediately.

The Nokia DX 200 platform will be used to provide enhanced, fixed, ISDN-based network services, to corporations in Malmö Sweden, Copenhagen Denmark, and Oslo Norway. This contract marks the first delivery of the Nokia DX 200 fixed switch to Norway.

"We have been very happy with the commitment shown by Nokia from the outset, and are impressed with their capabilities in the fixed network area," states Mr Ivar Strömberg, Managing Director of Tele 1 Europe. "Having already selected Nokia last year for our first DX 200 deliveries, we are pleased to continue this partnership with them."

"The flexibility required by new operators such as Tele 1 Europe, is inherent in Nokia's DX 200 technology," comments Mr Nils Lagerström, Managing Director, Nokia Telecommunications AB. "This flexibility will assist Tele 1 Europe in meeting their target of implementing a full, Scandinavia-wide corporate network."

Tele 1 Europe is a new fixed operator, focusing mainly on medium to large corporations in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The ownership of the company is shared between Kunskapskontoret, Norwegian investors and the managment of Tele 1 Europe.

Nokia Telecommunications develops and manufactures infrastructure equipment and systems for fixed and mobile networks. Nokia's switching solutions and applications are built on the DX 200 switching platform, used in mobile and fixed applications alike. The DX 200 also offers a growth path to broadband applications. Nokia has delivered its DX 200 switching solutions to around 120 operators in over 30 countries around the world.
