Nokia and Flashnet bring Internet via Satellite to Italy
November 03, 1997
Nokia Multimedia Network Terminals and Italian telecommunications operator Flashnet Telecommunicazioni S.p.a have signed a letter of intent announcing a cooperation which will give Italian TV-viewers access to Internet services via satellite. For the first time, Internet services can now be received up to thirty times faster than via traditional telephone lines, using a Nokia satellite dish.
All customers purchasing a Nokia Mediamaster in Italy are offered a three month free Internet subscription via telephone lines. At the end of this period, customers will also benefit from a 35% price reduction on a Flashnet DirecPC Reception Kit to receive Internet services via satellite. This offer is valid in Italy until mid January ’98.
