E-Plus Chooses Nokia as its Intelligent Network Supplier
November 12, 1997

E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH and Nokia have signed a contract for the supply of an Intelligent Network (IN) for the E-Plus cellular telecommunications network.

Nokia's IN solution will significantly enhance E-Plus´ ability to quickly introduce market-attractive, cost-effective and flexible IN services to its network. Besides the IN platform, various interfaces to other components of the E-Plus network as well as individual IN services and a Service Toolkit will be provided by Nokia.

The Nokia Intelligent Network is designed to integrate fixed and cellular networks as well as combining private and public network functionality in the future. Nokia's IN platform is based upon state-of-the-art information and telecommunications technologies.

Mr Jörns Haberstroh, Managing Director of Nokia Telecommunications Germany, says the contract is a continuation of the excellent relationship that has been formed between E-Plus and Nokia over the past four years.

“Nokia's IN platform is a most valuable supplement to the E-Plus network infrastructure. With Nokia's IN platform, E-Plus is in an even better position to offer attractive services to their new and existing customers more flexibel and faster”, continues Mr Haberstroh.

E-Plus operates a digital mobile telecommunications network according to the GSM 1800 standard. E-Plus’ GSM 1800 network was launched in 1994. E-Plus offers a high level of quality and service to its customers. The company is ISO 9001 certified.

Nokia is the world's largest supplier of GSM 1800 networks and one of the two largest suppliers of GSM 900. In mobile data infrastructure, Nokia is a market leader and pioneer. In addition, it is a significant supplier of advanced transmission and switching solutions.
