Nokia 300Xa Gives More for Fewer Inches
October 13, 1997

The Nokia 300Xa flat panel display combines the latest liquid crystal display technology with Nokia’s product development expertise. The user of the 13.3-inch display can enjoy the benefits of this powerful combination in all central performance features.

The flat LCD screen with no distortion of the image at edges and corners provides a larger effective picture than a cathode ray tube screen of the same inch size. As a result, the display panel of Nokia 300Xa with its viewable diagonal size of 13.3 inches corresponds to the screen of a 15-inch CRT display.

The professional PC user is certain to appreciate the wide viewing angle of the Nokia 300Xa. The lightweight desk display, based on active matrix LCD technology, has a vertical and horizontal viewing angle of 140 degrees. This makes it easy to pick up information at a glance. By the same token, several users can comfortably gather at the display to view documents or images of joint interest.

Sharp, straight, true
The LCD screen consists of liquid silicon crystals switched on and off by means of transistors. With the image formed digitally, the picture is of uniform sharpness across the panel. The digital picture is in perfect focus, flicker-free and in true colours. The picture geometry is accurate from edge to edge, a great advantage in such professional display uses as computer aided design.

The Nokia 300Xa is based on the latest and best LCD technology, known as active matrix or super-TFT. In an active matrix LCD, a switching element known as a thin-film transistor is placed at each pixel. The faster display has no phantom images typical of less advanced passive matrix LCDs and familiar to many laptop PC users.

Thanks to the super-TFT technology, the picture of the Nokia 300Xa has a contrast ratio of 100:1. Contrast and the 16 million colours remain unchanged from whichever angle the panel is viewed. The panel is also remarkably bright, with a luminance output of 200 candela per square metre. The high contrast and brightness make the Nokia 300Xa an effective tool in normal daylight conditions.

An image-building tool
Superior picture quality and ergonomics are strong arguments for the Nokia 300Xa in applications where other advantages of flat panel LCD technology also come into their own. The financial trader, struggling to cope with fast changing information provided by a roomful of bulky and heavy displays, will appreciate the light and slim panel - easy to place and move, easy to view at a glance.

The Nokia 300Xa consumes only 40 watts electricity, a fact of importance in mobile applications. Very low electromagnetic interference carries considerable importance in medical imaging. The ease of placing and moving the slim lightweight panel is an additional advantage in crowded medical centres and hospitals.

A herald of the future, the Nokia 300Xa with its advanced user interface is a high profile choice for high places, a display to communicate a modern and sophisticated corporate image.

Familiar Nokia ease of use
The Nokia 300Xa is just as easy to install and use as all Nokia displays. Power, audio volume, and brightness are controlled by separate switches. Other adjustments are made with the help of an On-Screen Menu. Automatic adjustments helps the user to carry out installation properly. The control menu with three language choices (English, German and French) can be used to adjust such parameters as the position of the picture and colour temperature.

Equipped with integrated speakers, microphone and a stereo sound system, the Nokia 300Xa offers full multimedia capabilities.
