Nokia Continues Its Tradition of First-to-Market Products with the Introduction of the 445Xpro 21” Monitor (20” Viewable Area)
October 15, 1997

Nokia Pioneers the Development of the 1800 x 1440 @ 80Hz Monitors

CHICAGO, IL, Knowledge Management Expo - Nokia Display Products, Inc., an industry leader in the development of display products, today announced the Nokia 445Xpro, the first monitor to offer support for resolutions up to 1800 x 1440 @ 80Hz. This provides users with an 85 percent increase in the amount of information displayed on-screen when upgrading from standard 1280 x 1024 resolution. Operating at a scan frequency of 121kHz, with a .21mm horizontal mask pitch and a full 20-inch viewable area, the monitor delivers crisp and clear images while maintaining a flicker-free environment. Nokia continues to meet user demands for superior performance from their monitors. The Nokia 445Xpro offers a feature set that will outlast several generations of computing power, effectively future-proofing the user’s investment.

In addition to flicker-free performance, the Nokia 445Xpro’s large viewable area proves valuable in a wide variety of applications. From CAD/CAM and document imaging applications to desktop publishing, the Nokia 445Xpro is the monitor for professionals who are unwilling to compromise performance. Screen adjustments are made with ease by using the readily accessible controls for brightness and contrast, other adjustments are easily accomplished by using the Navi-KeyTM to control a series of on-screen menus.

“The Nokia 445Xpro is a step up from the 445Xi. By building on an established, award-winning monitor, we will provide our customers the very best in imaging technology,” said John Grundy, Vice President of Marketing, Nokia Display Products, Inc. “Our goal is to continually offer our customers the most technically advanced products possible.”

Exceeding Standards
Nokia has built a reputation of strict adherence to European design and safety standards. With an entire line of monitors certified TCO’95, Nokia continues its commitment of providing innovative products while curbing adverse affects on the environment, both during and after production. TCO’95 sets the world’s most rigid guidelines regarding emissions, ergonomics and power consumption, as well as prohibits the use of harmful chemicals during manufacturing. Nokia also meets the most recent guidelines set by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). VESA GTFTM (Generalized Timing Formula) brings standardization throughout the monitor market by defining a method for generating general purpose display timings, ensuring minimal user eye fatigue due to screen flicker.

Proven Reliability
Nokia customers have always been assured of unsurpassed quality and reliability. The Nokia 445Xpro’s MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) has been rated at 100,000 hours with a 90 percent confidence rating. Such ratings are indicative of a quality product that offers users years of trouble-free usage.

Pricing and Availability
The Nokia 445Xpro, which ships with a three-year limited warranty, will be available on October 15, 1997, at an estimated street price of $1,649. Nokia displays are available through authorized resellers and distributors.
