MobileOne of Singapore Selects Nokia for GSM Expansion

MobileOne and Nokia have signed an agreement for the expansion of the MobileOne's GSM network capacity to accommodate around 120,000 customers. The total value of the agreement is approximately 40 MSGD. Nokia will continue to be the sole supplier of the MobileOne network.
Under the contract, Nokia will supply DX 200 mobile switch equipment and base stations, including the extremely compact Nokia PrimeSite.
Mr. Neil Montefiore, CEO of MobileOne, said, "We are working hard to bring forward our investment plans and are pleased to be able to award this contract to Nokia. This will ensure that we meet our objective of providing the very best in quality, customer service and value."
Mr. Antti Räikkonen, Managing Director of Nokia Telecommunications (Singapore), said, "MobileOne has gained a 10% market share of cellular services within the first weeks of operation. It is a remarkable achievement. Nokia is proud to be a partner of MobileOne."
MobileOne, Singapore's newest mobile and paging service provider, is a consortium of the Keppel Group, Singapore Press Holdings, Cable & Wireless and Hongkong Telecom.
