The Nokia 3110 Redefines Ease of Use For Cellular Phones
March 12, 1997

Nokia today introduced a new GSM handportable with an intelligent user-friendly interface. The compact Nokia 3110 is a high-quality phone, designed to offer ultimate ease of use with a unique one-key access to functions. The product will be available in volume starting in June.

The most distinctive feature of the new Nokia 3110 is its smart menu system. The smart Navi™Key allows fast, one-button access to the functions of the phone, another industry-first innovation from Nokia. Upon pressing the Navi™Key, the phone guides the user through the features, providing fast and easy operation. All options are in plain text, which makes using the phone extremely uncomplicated.

The large full graphics display of the Nokia 3110 features a dynamic font size that adjusts automatically for ideal viewing based on the number of digits on the screen. The special ‘jumbo font’ mode is clear and visible even from a distance. The stylish, slightly curved shape of the phone and the keypad layout enable comfortable one-hand operation.

Small and lightweight, the Nokia 3110 offers impressive performance. With a standard or vibrating battery, the Nokia 3110 weighs only 187 grams, offering up to 95 hours of standby or up to 2 h 45 minutes of talk time. The extended battery provides up to 250 hours standby or 7 hours of talk time. With the slim Lithium-Ion battery, the Nokia 3110 weighs only 146 grams, offering up to 70 hours of standby or 2 hours talk time.

- This new handportable is a true benchmark in usability, and we believe that the Nokia 3110 will appeal to both private and business users. With the launch of the Nokia 3110, Nokia’s wide GSM product range is now unmatched by any other company, says Anssi Vanjoki, Senior Vice President, Nokia Mobile Phones, Europe and Africa.

The Nokia 3110 incorporates a broad set of features, including a one-touch voice mail key, memory up to 250 names and numbers (depending on the SIM card), menu texts in 18 languages, 25 ringing tones and Short Messaging Service. The phone supports data services, the sending and receiving of faxes, email and files from a PC via the Nokia Cellular Data Card or the new Nokia Cellular Data Suite.

The Nokia 3110 shares a range of accessories with the Nokia 8100 series, including chargers, headset and car kits. A new desktop stand is available for the Nokia 3110.
